Application & Gateway Hosting

The Managed Text Suite is available with three distinct deployment options:

  • Fully managed, hosted service
  • Integrated: Run within your own datacentre
  • Hybrid: Partially hosted and partially run in your own data centre

Hosted

We would generally recommend that customers consider the fully managed, hosted Managed Text service as a first port of call. This option provides a rich set of messaging and application functionality for a single fixed hosting cost. There is no need to install and maintain dedicated hardware, systems or multiple network links, and there is no need to train support personell on the management of the Managed Text system.

With hosted Managed Text, you can outsource your entire message delivery capability; letting you concentrate on your core buisiness activities.

The Hosted Managed Text option is by far the quickest option to get up and running, and offers a high degree of flexibility in terms of customisation, bespoke application deployment and management options.

Also, Hosted (and Hybrid) options offer full two-way, cross-network messaging support, a feature that isn't supported on the Integrated option unless you install multiple network links to carrier networks other than O2 (or use text aggregation services).

Integrated

We would recommend Integrated Managed Text solutions in the following situations:

  • You already have a direct connection to O2 (e.g. Kilostream, Link 60 etc)
  • You don't need cross-network inbound or reply functionality
  • You need close systems integration with your IT infrastructure (e.g. Active Directory, Back-office systems)
  • You are happy to manage your own hardware & network links

Organisations opting for Integrated Managed Text are able to take full advantage of O2's preferred Land To Mobile SMS rates, meaning that for high volume customers (e.g. > 500,000 messages a month), your are able to benefit from the additional message discounts, subject to contract with O2.

Hybrid

We would recommend Hybrid Managed Text solutions in the following situations:

  • You want the benefits of a fully managed hosted service
  • You need close integration into your back-office and enterprise systems
  • You can install and manage a VPN between your datacentre and one of Infracast's Points of Presence. Not mandatory, but highly recommended from a security perspective

In many ways, the hybrid solution offers the best of both worlds, although, because it usually requires the setup and management of a dedicated VPN, it gives you full control over integration with your existing systems and lets you take advantage of outsourcing the message delivery component.
